– Plaat van de maand JULI :: The Highway van Holly Williams

– Drie jaar nadat ik Richard Thompson solo zag in het OLT, stond hij daar nu opnieuw indrukwekkend te wezen, zij het met band dit keer. Risjaar had er duidelijk goesting in, kuste de Sky en bracht een spetterende bisfinale met een zinderende cover van ‘Hey Joe’. Jimi zag doorheen de Purple Haze dat het uitstekend was. Voorprogramma Stanton was ik op slag vergeten. 

– Voor de eerste keer in m’n 39-jarige leven ging ik één avond naar de Gentse feesten voor de concerten van orkaan Ben Caplan (solo), de geweldige Belgische bluegrassband Rawhide én vooral The Transatlantic Session; een 13-koppige fenomenale gelegenheidsband met ondermeer Goed Volk als Nils De Caster, HT Roberts, Bruno Deneckere, Perry Rose en John Langford. Zij zorgden voor een onvergetelijke, grootse Americana Avond bomvol kiekevelmomenten. Dit was The Broken Circle Bluegrassband voor gevorderden.  

 – Ik heb een shitload aan platen beluisterd tijdens de maand juli. Schandalig veel eigenlijk, en ik denk niet dat ik dit record aantal beluisterde platen dit jaar nog zal verbeteren. Ik heb dan ook echt genoten van de rust en de ruimte die ik had in juli. Dankzij het mooie weer vertoefde ik bovendien in Americana Heaven, zoals je kunt zien in mijn playlist:
